Meet Our Staff
The CEO of Tutors on Wheels, Jasleen Sabharwal, has been operating her educational agency for fourteen years. She has obtained both a bachelor’s in psychology and a master’s degree in English literature from her native country of India. Jasleen has been able to utilize her language skills as well as her drive and ambition to help Tutors on Wheels grow into the company that it is presently. Jasleen is always looking for opportunities to have a positive effect on the education and personal growth of students from all different backgrounds. Prior to opening Tutors on Wheels, Jasleen worked in the corporate world at Fiduciary Trust where she gained valuable business knowledge and management skills.
A former tenured teacher of high school and middle school English with the Department of Education, Anthony Forgione has always been passionate about learning and educating. He has obtained both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Queens College in English. While teaching at the middle school level, he received teacher of the year honors. Anthony’s experiences as a former educator have been most valuable to Tutors on Wheels. He knows how the field of education works due to his years spent in the Department of Education. This knowledge has been significant in enabling Tutors on Wheels to adapt various effective educational practices. As the SETSS Coordinator at Tutors on Wheels, Anthony has been responsible for communicating with both schools and parents throughout New York City who are in need of obtaining supplementary special education services for their children.
Chris Liendo (Private Division Manager)
A recent graduate of Cornell University with a dual BA in Information Science and Economics, Chris Liendo’s experience with computer programming has enabled him to help Tutors on Wheels run more efficiently through the use of various technological Platforms. Under his guidance, the division has expanded its network of talented private teachers and has grown steadily over the past year. His efforts have included the launch of Tutors on Wheels’ virtual tutoring platform and the expansion of the company into previously un-serviced boroughs. The private division is now helping more students than ever to obtain proficiency and beyond in all subjects and disciplines from K-12 and even at the college level.
Nydia L. Torres
Nydia L. Torres is a creative, dedicated and passionate Early Childhood and Development Educator, Early Intervention Program Specialist, and Program Director. A Special Educator with over ten years of professional experience in the fields of Early Intervention, Mental Health, Substance Abuse, and Child Protective Services. Nydia has held administrative and managerial roles within public health settings and worked with diverse populations providing advocacy, case planning, training and education. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Pace University and a Master of Science (MS), in Early Childhood Special Education Programs from the City University of New York-Herbert H. Lehman College. She completed The Developing Leaders Program for Nonprofit Professionals at Columbia Business School, as well as the American Express Leadership Academy. Under her leadership, the Early Intervention division of Tutors on Wheels has quickly expanded into one of the premier providers of service for young children.
Angela Y. León
Angela Y. León has over 10 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in multiple capacities. She has provided one-on-one, small-group, and class instruction as a speech-language pathologist, private academic and Spanish tutor, and executive function coach. She also facilitates workshops for students, school administrators, teachers, paraprofessionals, speech-language therapists, occupational therapists, and families.
